s24o

Nice overnighter with James, Sully, Jay, Darwin and Dan. Climb, climb, climb to the spot on the mountain, enjoy the campfire and a night outdoors, all down hill in the morning. Good idea James.

Lazy Sunday

After a bit of running around and a very short ride, I spent a little time in the hammock, enjoying the September sun and working out how I want to handle Laidlaws Last Lament on the banjo. The banjo isn't really a 'lament' style of instrument...

Bacon Explosion

James and Mel had a house warming party around a theme of bacon, beer, and chili. Knowing some of the attendees, I knew chili and beer would be covered pretty well with some delicious choices. I chose to explore with bacon. I'd heard of something over the top called a bacon explosion, so I decided to try that. While tracking down directions, I discovered that Saturday was International Bacon Day. Cool!!! I threw the dish together and it turned out amazingly good. How could it not? It had bacon.

The party was great, Good food, drink and friends. Starmer brought bacon ice cream. It was way better than it sounds. Really.

Slow Ride

I had a rare Friday off due to a crisis at work previously in the week, which lead to an all-nighter and associated comp time. I had a choice of riding areas because it was dry all week, but Thursday night the heavens opened up. Rain bodes ill for my urge to do more off road riding. Several of the most popular riding areas in the region really need to be left alone to dry out after any rain at all. Fortunately, I live close to a wonderful rocky ridge called Catoctin Mountain, which is a good place to ride because it drains so well. So, although at first I was going to skip the ride Friday completely, I roused myself to the effort and was rewarded by a fantastic ride in the dark damp woods, with not another soul on the trails.
